For the past couple of days, there has been one memory of Sheldon that keeps popping into my mind. Aaron, Tanya, Matt, Sheldon and I all drove to Canada for a wedding. We were in the long receiving line after the ceremony and someone asked, "What exactly are we supposed to say here?" Having been in my fair share of receiving lines, I replied, "Oh you know...just things like congratulations...lovely ceremony...happy day..." For whatever reason, Sheldon latched onto that "happy day." Of course, I had meant it as a polite, "What a happy day this is!" But, that wasn't what I had actually said. Sheldon clearly felt that it was better to just exclaim, "Happy Day!" with childlike glee. There was something so perfect and funny about the way he would randomly say, "Happy Day!" first while we moved slowly through the receiving line, then throughout the evening's reception. I don't know why I keep hearing that "Happy Day!" in my mind. It's such a random memory. Honestly, it even seems inappropriate for me to think about, considering how very unhappy we've all been the past few days. I think the reason I keep coming back to this memory is because it's really a perfect way to remember Sheldon. He was happy and making everyone laugh. But I hope the reason I keep hearing "Happy Day!" in my head is because Sheldon's happy now wherever he is. He's finally found some peace, so, for him, it is a happy day.
